It is primarily used as a collector in the froth flotation process within the mining industry. It effectively separates sulfide minerals, such as copper, lead, and zinc, from their ores by rendering the mineral surfaces hydrophobic, allowing them to attach to air bubbles and be recovered from the ore slurry.
