Sodium Thiosulphate

short description:

CAS: 7772-98-7

Sodium Thiosulphate, commonly known as sea salt or baking soda, is a commonly used chemical raw material used as a fixing agent in the photography, film, and printing industries. Used as a reducing agent in leather making. In the papermaking and textile industries, it is used to remove residual bleaching agents and as a solvent for chemical book dyeing. Used as an antidote for cyanide poisoning in medicine. In water treatment, it is used as a dechlorination agent and bactericide for drinking water and wastewater; Copper corrosion inhibitor for circulating cooling water; And deoxidizer for boiler water system. It is also used for the treatment of cyanide containing wastewater, etc.

In industry, soda ash and sulfur are generally used as raw materials to react with sulfur dioxide produced by burning sulfur to produce sodium sulfite. Then, sulfur is added for boiling reaction, and then filtered, decolorized, concentrated chemically condensed, and crystallized to obtain sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate. Other waste materials containing sodium sulfide, sodium sulfite, sulfur, and sodium hydroxide produced can also be utilized and processed appropriately to obtain products.
